Construction Skills Queensland
Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) creates and funds initiatives to assist career seekers looking to join the building and construction industry as well as those already employed within the industry. CSQ is an independent industry organisation working for the future of Queensland’s construction industry.
CSQ’s Be Constructive careers initiative is specifically designed to help career seekers and school students find the right career in construction.
The construction industry has many different and exciting careers on offer, from jobs working outdoors on the tools to supervisor positions on major commercial projects. Whatever you are looking for in a career, there will be a job in Queensland’s construction industry for you.
The CSQ team can help find the right career for you, plan your career path and advise on the training you need to give you the best start in getting a job in construction, you’ll learn the skills needed to get working and start earning!
CSQ also offers a school to work initiative, Doorways 2 Construction (D2C), which allows students to start gaining qualifications while still studying at school. What better way to spend school days than to get out on a construction site, learn a skill and have fun doing it? Students who take part in D2C have the opportunity to gain their Certificate I in General Construction or Resource and Infrastructure Operations by the time they finish school.
CSQ has just launched the innovative new Be Constructive website - www.beconstructive.com.au - which contains information and advice about careers in the Queensland building and construction industry for both school students and career seekers. The interactive format showcases a new and exciting look, describing job options within the industry and offers tools to plan careers.
The new Be Constructive® website includes a career planner, career pathway guide detailing required education, and an A-Z of careers to assist users in selecting the right career for them, based on their interests.
An interactive forum gives students and career seekers the opportunity to ask a trade representative about their career of interest. There is also dedicated areas for industry specific information, discussions and topics that are of interest to career seekers and teachers.
To celebrate the launch of the Be Constructive® website, CSQ is running a competition open to career seekers who enter online on the new website. Not only will they get the chance to win 1 of 3 great prizes, they also will be added to the VIP list for industry and career updates.
The choice of prizes on offer are the opportunity to win trade-related training in either Certificate I General Construction or Certificate I Resource and Infrastructure Operations, as well as enrolment fees for White Card training and the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work wear needed, an iPod touch 32GB or $500 cash prize.
